Honour to whom honour is due! (Romans 13:7)
Last Friday I spent a long night hanging above a laser cutting machine in the good company of FablabFactory-guys Stijn De Mil and Dieter Van den Stockt. Place of happening was Fablab Erpe-Mere; a co-working space inside of a high school, built and run by FablabFactory. Although surrounded by the soothing calmness of pastoral Flanders, on the inside you'll find a chaotic mix of young enthusiasts and their geeky high-tech toys; 3D-printers, CNC-mills, live scanners, micro-controllers, etc. It is the sort of place where you can live out your weird creative fantasies and indulge in the sheer fun of making stuff, supported by Stijn and his team.
I can strongly recommend the experience. No better fun than watching the clock slide into ghost time, having a beer, and discussing with Stijn and Dieter about sci-fi welding techniques, cockroach neural networks, and defecating kittens. And of course, all of this while you're watching a big-ass 120-watt laser doing its thing on 500 pieces of plywood for your latest little secret project. Bottoms up!
