Nothing shaking but the leaves on the tree

The concept for this wall system merged the interest for ‘folding’ with that for porous light transparency. This translated into strips with varying height, stacked in interlocking and alternating layers. By simply changing the length of individual components, the wall starts to curve.

Construction-wise, the strips consist of individual components, locking into each other with finger joints. Different layers are stacked by using slits, and overall stability is achieved through the curvature of the wall.

The digital model enables the generation of the different components, adapting the joint’s opening size to local conditions, and testing out different stacking possibilities
